Darren Tutty has recently been appointed Director with the firm. He has considerable taxation experience having worked with Ernst & Young and KPMG. Darren also has extensive banking and financial expertise having worked in Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking for over 5 years. |

J. W. O' Donovan, Solicitors have been formally appointed as consulting solicitors to Cogent Taxation, to provide a fresh commercial perspective on legal issues faced by clients. The Partner in charge of Consultancy is Raymond Shanahan who is also an Associate Member of the Irish Taxation Institute.

Joanne Corbett BComm, BCL, ACIS, LL.M, AITI
The company secretarial division within Cogent is managed by Joanne Corbett. Over the last number of years, she has developed considerable skills in all company secretarial and corporate compliance matters including corporate restructurings and liquidations. Joanne is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute.

Deirdre O’Neill BComm, MDevSt(Econ), AITI
With a background in economic development, Deirdre spent a number of years working with small businesses prior to joining Connolly & Associates (taxation consultancy) in 2003 before it was merged into Cogent. Deirdre has a broad range of experience across various tax heads and has considerable experience in managing large scale capital allowance projects (such as nursing homes and crèches). Most recently, she is involved in estate planning, VAT and corporate reorganisations. She is actively involved with the Irish Taxation Institute.

Clodagh Fleming, ACA, AITI
Clodagh Fleming joined the firm at the beginning of 2008 having worked as a Tax Consultant with a large accountancy firm previously. Clodagh completed her training in Deloitte in Cork and is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and an Associate of the Institute of Taxation. She has gained valuable experience in many areas of tax including personal tax, estate planning and VAT on property transactions and has been actively involved in arranging the financing for a number of capital allowance projects.

Monica Walsh FCA AITI
Monica Walsh joined the firm in 2008 having spent 10 years with Bank of Ireland Private Banking in a senior client management role and prior to that in treasury and tax roles with large multinationals. With her banking & treasury background Monica brings valuable experience to the commercial finance arm of the practice and is active in eth area of corporate restructurings and refinancings. Monica trained with Deloitte in Cork and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute.

Careers
Would you be interested in an exciting career as a Taxation Consultant with Cogent?
The assignments will be challenging and exciting and will offer the ideal candidate an opportunity to work on and develop a portfolio of clients and report to the directors.
Successful candidates will be AITI qualified, preferably with a recognised accounting qualification. The candidate should have 3+ years tax experience in a practical/commercial tax planning environment including client management. Opportunities also arise from time to time for trainee consultants who wish to pursue a career in taxation.
Candidates will be positive self-starters and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong planning, organisational and self-managing skills will be required in addition to the necessary technical competence that will enable the consultant to identify technical issues and determine how to resolve them.
